Catalyst Miami's Voter Education Initiative
At Catalyst Miami we believe in self-empowerment, so we support people to self-register to vote. We don't do the registration ourselves because new Florida legislation makes it very difficult for organizations to do so. However, together with Turbo Vote, Catalyst Miami makes registering to vote as easy as renting a DVD from Netflix. To self-register, text the word "Catalyst" to 313131 or visit our registration site; it's that easy! Not only can you register to vote, but we will also send text and email reminders so that constituents don't miss elections. For more information about this initiative, contact Lori Deus. Our Learning Circles are held once per month. These 2.5-hour practical, hands-on, small group sessions are held by members of the Catalyst Consultants Collaborative. Each motn features a different area of organizational capacity building. Our 2011-2012 cycle has just concluded. Stay tuned for news about our second year! Read more...
This work includes building a large network of organizations, choosing an issue area and concrete policies to engage in institutional change, and work in close partnership with local academic institutions like the University of Miami's program in Community & Social change to collect data and resources on best practices of coalition building and anti-poverty initiatives.
