Sep 9 @ 6:30 pm – Dec 6 @ 9:30 pm
Tech Futures Program @ Opa-locka tech hire Center | Opa-locka | Florida | United States

Have you dreamed of a career in technology? If so, take the first step towards your future self with this 12-week intensive lab (Monday-Friday) that will introduce you to the basics of coding.

The Tech Futures Initiative is a free coding certification course for young adults and working professionals who want to enter high wage careers in the tech industry.

You’ll learn how to –
Speak “computer technology” lingo
Install, configure and troubleshoot display devices
Manage system components
Identify hardware and software requirements
Support mobile digital devices and printers

By the end of the lab, you will be prepared to take the CompTIA A+ certification test, an internationally recognized, vendor-neutral certification considered a prerequisite for entry-level IT employment. And, unlike any other course in South Florida, this free intensive lab combines tech skills, with life and career readiness skills.

Let us help you level up.

RESEARCH IN MINORITY WOMEN Seminar @ OLCDC
Nov 12 @ 12:30 pm – 3:00 pm
RESEARCH IN MINORITY WOMEN Seminar @ OLCDC | Opa-locka | Florida | United States

We’re talking about how the health scene is extravagantly different for women of color than it is for any other group.

A discrepancy exists between minority women and research (for example clinical trials, non-therapeutic trials). Some racial minorities, especially Blacks/African Americans, are still not well represented in most drug development programs and remain an area where improvement is needed. During this group session, we will offer a comfortable space for women to learn about the importance of research in minority women by Dr.Sophia George, a scientist from the University of Miami.
